AMENDMENTS AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BT-PSSR COURSE

The new amendments to the STCW Code under IMO Resolution MSC.560(108), effective 1 January 2026, introduce an additional competency on “Violence & Harassment” under the PSSR module in Basic Training (BT). 

BT-PSSR Updating (BT-PSSR-U) – a refresher course for existing Malaysian seafarers who previously have a Basic Training (BT) certificate.

The BT-PSSR-U course is conducted by KWPPL, with a duration of 1-day and approximately 5 learning hours. The training emphasises the new PSSR competency, including live demonstration assessments as required by the STCW Code.
